Brazilian Pulse was a fine winner of the 2010 VRC Oaks (2500 metres) at Flemington.

Sent off $2.70 favourite, the daughter of Captain Rio, backed up after winning the previous Saturday''s Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington and is the 34th winner of the Wakeful-Oaks double.

Trained by Mike Moroney and ridden by Craig Williams, Brazilian Pulse claimed the lead rounding the home turn and maintained a powerful run to the winning post.

Brazilian Pulse cost only $26,000 as a yearling. The Oaks was only her sixth race start and her fourth win.

Brazilian Pulse’s win was Moroney''s fourth Oaks winner but his first at Flemington and completed a hat-trick of Cup carnival wins for him after a Melbourne Cup with Brew in 2000 and the Victoria Derby with both Second Coming (1997) and Monaco Consul (2009).

Moroney''s past Oaks winners were Our Heavenly Body (1989 SA Oaks), Alacrity (1996 NZ Oaks) and Eskimo Queen (2007 Queensland Oaks).
