Joe Janiak apologises at last

At last Joe Janiak has apologised to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for publicly criticising the Club.

Takeover Target was withdrawn from the Hong Kong Sprint last December when he tested positive to a banned substance.

Janiak was upset by the incident and was also quoted as saying officials were trying to cover up investigations into a suspicious device found at Happy Valley in March.

However the HKJC apparently received a faxed apology from Janiak hours before Takeover Target won the Group One Doomben 10,000 in Australia yesterday.

The HKJC said Janiak "sincerely and unreservedly" apologised to the Hong Kong Jockey Club, its stewards and officials for any inconvenience and grievance caused and that the matter was now closed.

Great Racehorses called on Joe Janiak to apologise as soon as he made his comments and we are now pleased that he has done the right thing by realising his stupid mistake. However, in future, we will not be taking everything Mr Janiak says very seriously (Robert Bishop).
