Hong Kong Mile 2015

Japanese four-year-old Maurice, trained by Noriyuki Hori and ridden by Ryan Moore won the 2015 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile, giving Japan a first win in the 1600m spectacular for ten years.

Able Friend, trained by John Moore and ridden by Joao Moreira, started a short favourite to repeat his memorable win of 2014 but finished third a short-head behind rail running Giant Treasure a surprise second three quarters of a length behind Maurice.

The win left Maurice unbeaten in 2015 and with victories also in Japan’s two major mile races.

Fourth place went to French horse Esoterique with a good finish, local improver Contentment was prominent all the way for fifth and Beauty Flame was sixth. The field also included Secret Sham and Toormore.

The winning time was 1m 33.92s.
