Hong Kong Cup 2015

A Shin Hikari won the 2105 Hong Kong Cup for Japan.

A Shin Hikari had a record of eight wins from 10 starts but was ninth in the G1 Tenno Sho Autumn on his last run in Japan.

The four year old son of Deep Impact was ridden by Yutaka Take and quickly raced to the lead. He quickened thereafter and never came back to the field, holding off the late run of fellow Japanese horse Nuovo Record to win the world's richest 2000m turf race in a time of 2m 00.60s.

Blazing Speed was third and Designs On Rome was fourth.

It was a second HKIR win for Take (following HKIR 2001 Vase on Stay Gold) and the first event win for trainer Masanori Sakaguchi.

It was the first Cup win for Japan since 2001 when Agnes Digital triumphed.
