Falbrav, by Fairy King, won the 22nd Japan Cup in 2002.

Frankie Dettori left his run on Falbrav until the last furlong and took the lead with 50 yards to go. Sarafan was second and Symboli Kris S third.

The sixteen runner field included the previous years winner Jungle Pocket and also Golan.

Falbrav started at 195/10 on the Japanese tote.
