Cox Plate 2011

The 2011 W S Cox Plate was won by four year old mare Pinker Pinker ridden by Craig Williams and trained by Greg Eurell.

Jimmy Choux was second, Rekindled Interest third and Wall Street fourth of the 14 runners.

This was the biggest win of Pinker Pinker's career. She started at 25-1.

Pinker Pinker had only a few horses behind her with 600 metres to run. Craig Williams made a decision to stick to the fence and at the 200 metre mark Pinker Pinker slipped through inside most of the field and set out after leader Jimmy Choux and won by one and a quarter lengths.

Before the Cox Plate Pinker Pinker had enjoyed Group 1 placings in the AJC Oaks and the Epsom.

Pinker Pinker died suddenly in April 2012 after suffering an adverse reaction to a commonly used joint lubricant at trainer Greg Eurell's Cranbourne property.

The four year old mare was being administered an injection of pentazan by veterinary staff when she suffered anaphylactic shock and died instantly.
